Research

My main research areas are political philosophy, philosophy of economics, and philosophy of AI, especially the intersection of these areas. In political philosophy, I am currently working on liberalism and social justice. In philosophy of economics, I defend what I call sympathetic engagement for economic progress, arguing that sympathy can foster interaction, with sympathetic agents engaged in cooperating and adopting fair behaviors. In the philosophy of AI, I explore issues related to agency, morality, and moral agency through the lenses of moral sentimentalism and virtue ethics. Additionally, I investigate ways to ensure that ethical principles and values are embedded in AI systems.
Across all these research areas, I use the ideas of the philosopher and economist Adam Smith as a guiding thread.
